Well thought out and well executed design5
This is the set you want. Why? Here are some reasons. Some are about Stainless steel cookware in general, but all apply specifically to this set.
o Stainless steel is sanitary. You can get them perfectly clean very easily. (Commercial food processors are often required to use stainless steel for nearly everything that comes in contact with food.)
o Stainless steel cleans up nearly as easily non-stick cookware. You do clean it differently, however.
o These pans have an aluminum core wrapped on both sides by stainless steel. Stainless steel does not transmit heat quickly but aluminum does. Aluminum is soft and dents easily, stainless steel is hard and strong. This means you get the toughness of stainless steel with the even heat distribution of aluminum.
o Even heat distribution and rapid heating allows you use lower heat setting thus saving energy and reducing the chance of burning food.
o Handles stay fairly cool, better than most cookware I have used.
o Dishwasher safe, unlike most non-stick pans.
o Oven-safe. Like to grill that steak then broil it to get it tender? Or you need to bake that stuffing then keep it warm? Use one pan!
o Pans are a little bottom heavy. They will not tip as easily as lighter weight pans, even empty or with a large spoon hanging off one side.
o Pans are well balanced and not too heavy. Want to flip those pancakes or toss those grilled onions, these pans give you fine control. They have been excellent for every use I have put them through.
o Lids are interchangeable and fit well! The lids even fit the skillets which is great if you are making grilled sandwiches. Note that lids may seem loose, especially when pans are cold. Remember that as pans get hot, their shape can change. Also, you do not want a perfect seal as you can make a bomb just by boiling water. Thus the lids need a little room to vent steam as well as accommodate changes in the shape of the pan.
If you have a gas range, consider using a flame deflector. This is good advice for ANY type of cookware.
Personally, I have owned the high quality non-stick stuff as well as stainless steel cookware. The non-stick stuff is quite over-rated, it does not clean up any more easily than the stainless pans. None of my non-stick Analon and Caliphon stuff has lasted more than six or eight years. The only stainless steel pot I ever had I got from my mother back in 1979. It is in great condition and looks like I bought it last month.
Unfortunately, some researches recently have linked some of the binding agents in non-stick cookware to cancer, so perhaps, to be safe, avoid the complex chemical treatments of the non-stick stuff and go for simple stainless steel.
At this price point, the best.5
I just received this set for Christmas and have been cooking up a storm since that morning. This set replaces a "set" of random pans that included hand-me-downs and cheap poseurs. This is my first set of truly high-quality cookware.
In shopping for this (it's a gift I gave myself), I was considering several different brands and model lines. Although I own several All-Clad pans and love using them, I was hesitant about spending that kind of money on a set similar to this one. Far less expensive, but by no means inexpensive are stainless steel sets by Calphalon and KitchenAid. I really like both and was having a hard time making up my mind. That is, until I happened to take a closer look at Cuisinart's cookware. I already owned a braiser from their Everyday Stainless line (their cheapest) and liked it well enough. However, I wanted to step up to something a bit better. (I'm not sure the Everyday Stainless is even available anymore.) I wanted cookware that had an aluminum core and whose core extends up the sides of every pan, regardless of size. I wanted stainless with riveted handles (not spot-welded) and with a mirror finish for easy cleaning. I wanted pans that could withstand oven roasting temperatures. I wanted pans that were free of manufacturing flaws such as surface waves and imperfections or rivets that bend the pan surface when attaching the handles to the sides of the pan. Finally, I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg.
The Multiclad Pro line gives me all of the above, with the slight exception of the mirror finish. It isn't quite a mirror, although it's certainly easy to clean when soaked for several minutes. (The lids and handles are mirrored.) The heating is wonderfully even and, as the literature states, I don't need to use high heat even to sear or quick sautee because the pans respond to and retain the heat so well. At first, I thought the slight curve of the handles would make them uncomfortable due to the pressure point of the index finger's lever (unlike All-Clad's straight handles which distribute the pan's weight over all the fingers). However, this isn't so. The pans are comfortable to use and aren't unduly heavy and their curve has the added benefit of less height, making storage easier. The lids are tight-fitting, some being interchangeable so that each pan has one. The pans have a slight flare at the lip, making pouring easy and drip-free.
For $250, this set is tough to beat. Cooking with All-Clad is great and if you can afford it, go for it. However, if you're more about the food than showing your cookware to friends and if All-Clad's prices give you pause, I highly recommend Cuisinart's Multiclad Pro cookware. Once in awhile, I watch cooking shows and I've been seeing this cookware being used on a few of them (Nigella Lawson, for example). This is undoubtedly smart marketing by Cuisinart, but its use is in the kitchen of a pro (as well as its name) is absolutely justified.
Ah, the joy of cooking...5
...with the right pot.
When I was checking into buying more high-quality cookware a few years ago, I was totally sold on AllClad, but then a friend of mine whose job at the time was to test kitchen cookware (if you can believe that!) told me I should check out Cuisinart's MultiClad line instead. Turns out it's had the same features (and add-ons) as the AllClad I was so in love with (stainless steel wrapped around an aluminum core), but without the major price tag that comes with the "AllClad" name.
So I got the Cuisinart line and absolutely have loved it ever since - I've even been adding to my collection every year or so.
As far as comparing it to nonstick cookware...well, I still have some nonstick pieces, but I don't use them much - a little bit of Pam Cooking Spray, and I haven't had any trouble. It also comes with great cleaning instructions...in fact, mine still looks almost new.

Good "starter" set...3
This is a good starter set, but if you cook very much I'd go with a higher quality set. When we received this set one pan was uneven and would gently rock back and forth when boiling water (we have a flat ceramic stove top; maybe it doesn't do this on a conventional stove). I use wooden utensils when cooking, hand wash them with a sponge, and let them air dry. However, even with this care the nonstick coating still comes off more than I would have expected. The pans are of a decent weight...not too heavy, not too flimsy. The glass lids are nice (but they do make a popping sound as food is cooking), and the built in strainers are very handy for straining vegetables and large pasta. For the money, they're a great deal, but if you cook much or are wanting a set to last a long time I'd suggest a higher quality brand. I'm going to try this set: Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 10-Piece Cookware Set It got great reviews in Cook's Illustrated.
Gave these as a gift4
We gave this cookware set to my mother-in-law for Christmas and she has raved about them ever since. They are very easy to clean as nothing sticks to the non-stick cooking surfaces. She said they are "too pretty to use" so if you are looking for cookware that is pretty and easy to clean then this set is for you.

Amazon.com Review
This budget-priced cookware set is perfect for college students or young couples who are setting up a first kitchen. The 14-piece set has everything necessary for the basic meals attempted by entry-level cooks (pasta and sauce, eggs, and anything pre-packaged). The pans in the set include four covered saucepans in 1-, 1-1/2-, 2-, and 4-1/2-quart sizes and two nonstick skillets in 9- and 10-1/2-inch sizes. The pans are accompanied by four kitchen tools: a slotted spatula, a ladle, a slotted spoon, and a pasta fork.
Made of aluminum, which is an excellent conductor of heat, these pans warm up through the bottoms and sides for even cooking. A nonstick coating on the interior and exterior of the pan reduces the need to cook with extra fats and makes cleanup fast and easy. Pans have durable, riveted phenolic handles that stay cool on the stovetop and see-through glass lids for keeping an eye on supper as it cooks. The 14-piece cookware set is oven-safe up to 350 degrees F and is dishwasher safe. --Cristina Vaamonde

Exterior paint peels off after a couple of uses
This looked like a great deal at $39.99 with free shipping, so I even gave it as a gift to a friend. To my disappointment, the exterior paint or coating started peeling on the saucepans after a couple of uses. Checked with my friend, and guess what - the same thing ! Perhaps, one could live with an ugly exterior because the interior non-stick surface is still alright, but I wouldn't gift this set to anybody else.
Nonsense nonstick
my husband got this to start our married life, and in just 6-8 months all the vessels have their nonstick peeling. very unhealthy for the nonstick material to mix with the food!! just bought a new stainless steel set!

Amazon.com Review
From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F.
An excellent value, this 10-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sautéing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The larger 6-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri
Customer Reviews
Great set!
I did quite a bit of research, trying to find a good but "reasonably" priced cookware set. When I read the reviews for this KitchenAid set, I thought I would give them a try. I LOVE THEM!!! I used them to cook Christmas dinner and couldn't have been more pleased with my purchase! Clean up is an absolute breeze!!!! It truly is non-stick without using oils or butter. The only downside is that food does get stuck in the rivets, which is the only time you have to use a little elbow grease to clean these pans.
Overall, I'm 100% happy with the price, the look, the weight and the performance of this set. I love the stay cool handles. I quickly tossed my old set (which had become far from non-stick) and am cooking up a storm. I have to admit, on my old set, I always used non-stick spray. When I read the KitchenAid directions, that came with these pans, it said NOT to use spray as it compromised the integrity of the non-stick surface. OOOPS! Lesson learned. Non-stick spray will never touch this set!!!
A++ Awesome cookware set !!!
When I initially was looking for a new cookware set, I had several choices/brands to consider. Due to past experience with Circulon, we opted to stay away from it. Circulon was pretty good stuff, BUT those little ridges in the bottom of the cookware seem to collect alot of "gunk" in them...and yes I did hand wash it after each use :P After a while, unable to remove it even with scrubbing.
So I compared this set with Emerilware and Avalon hard anodized sets.
All three sets were very similar in weight and sizes. I liked the handles on the Kitchen Aid , due to the silicone rubber on them. It really keeps the cool to touch even after "heavy duty "cooking.
Also, after a little research, I discovered that there is a reason Anolon, Circulon and Kitchen Aid all look real and feel real similar... they are ALL made by the MEYER /Kitchen Aid company !!! After seeing eaach set in person at numerous store, we discovered they were almost identical except for a few minor detail (handles, markings, etc.) Seems that even cookware , you pay for the name!!
Lastly, we have used this cookware to cook fish, chicken, ground beef, eggs, you name it. I con honestly tell you , as stated, you only need to use oil/butter for flavor. NOTHING sticks to this cookware. everything seems to just slide right off. I mean even water on these pans beads right up! It heats evenly and very fast. As directions state, cook on low to medium heat. Seems this cookware heats up faster and cooks better that way. On low/ medium heat, was able to cook just as fast as my previous pans did on high.
All in all...fantastic cookware set and fantastic price on Amazon.
I would highly recommend this set for those that need new cookware and those that love to cook. You don't need to spend tons of money on the other brands whem you can get the same this/ different name for a much cheaper price!! :)
Good, but not great
These pans we have had for about a year. The non-stick works great, however, the outside of the pan is a bit difficult to clean. They are NOT dishwasher safe, however, we have thrown them in the dishwasher with liquid detergent only and they seem to be fine. Although we did place the large pot in the dishwasher near the soap dispenser and the soap ate away at the exterior of the pot a bit...we cannot get the white mark to disappear. Also, the lids even before we started dishwashing them, got rust marks where the handles attach to the lid. You do need to be careful about what type of utensil you use on these...no metal..it scratches the surface too much. Finally, I have burnt myself several times with the handles on the large pot. The protective coat is not that big or thick and when it is full of hot water, you cannot get a good grip without burning your hand on the exposed metal handles. Other than that, we have been happy with these pots. They seem to cook nice and evenly and fairly quickly. For the price, they are a good deal.

Amazon.com Review
From Cuisinart's Chef's Classic series comes this handsome, durable cookware with triple-layer construction. The exterior is hard-anodized aluminum, which is even stronger than stainless steel, with an encapsulated pure aluminum core for quick, even heating. The interiors of the pots and pans feature Cuisinart's Quantanium nonstick finish, a high-quality, long-lasting finish internally reinforced with titanium. Little oil or butter is needed when cooking on this ultra-smooth surface, and low to medium heat is recommended, along with non-metal utensils. All the lids are break-resistant glass, and handles are pure stainless steel, riveted for strength. Every piece is oven-safe to 500 degrees F.
Cuisinart puts together all the most commonly used pots and pans in this comprehensive 17-piece set. Three covered saucepans hold 1-1/2, 2, and 3 quarts, perfect for those everyday tasks such as warming soup, cooking rice, or steaming vegetables. The 8- and 10-inch skillets slide out perfect French toast and pancakes, not to mention eggs over easy with bacon. Use the covered 12-inch skillet or 4-quart covered sauté pan, both with helper handles, for stir-fried vegetables, sautéed seafood, or braised beef. The covered 9-quart stockpot is perfect for big batches of chili and hearty soups. Two bonus items are the all-purpose covered steamer and deeper pasta insert that fit the stockpot and do away with having to use a colander for draining. Cleanup is easy, just a quick wash by hand takes care of any food residue. Nonstick, hard-anodized cookware is best kept out of the dishwasher. Cuisinart covers this gift-worthy cookware set with a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. --Ann Bieri

Cuisinart
This is a beautiful set of cookware and, I think, a great value...I paid $189.99 for 17 pieces, 15 of which are pots, pans & lids and 2 inserts..for pasta and for steaming. I like that there are 2 of the same size lid. You always get 1 lid that fits 2 items in the set and I would always use them at the same time and only be able to cover 1. No worries with this set--there is 1 lid for each. Also, I did a lot of price shopping before I picked this one and it's the only brand that calls it 17-piece and gives you all cookware. Every other set I saw that was over, say, 10 pieces-- the extra was knives or plastic utensils vs pots and pans. If it was 17 pieces, 7 to 9 of them were bowls, utensils, knives, etc. Rip offs for the prices they charged. And finally..the outside is nice and smooth, not ringed or otherwise textured...makes for nice cleanup and hopefully they'll stay nice looking longer than their predecessors. The ONLY thing I'm not thrilled with is that the lid handles do get warm...even hot. The pot and pan handles don't, but the lids definitely do. But for the price and quality? I have potholders.... Otherwise I would give it 5 stars. What the heck..5 it is!
Super pots
A previous review pointed out that the lids don't stack so the set requires some space to store, but I find that the ones I use most are easy enough to keep handy. This is a great starter set and well worth the price.
Calphalon Commercial 9-Piece Hard-Anodized Cookware Set
Set includes: 8" omelette, 10" omelette, and 12" omelette, 3qt chefs casserole with cover, 7qt chefs casserole with cover, and 2.5qt shallow saucepan with cover. Heavy-gauge aluminum is responsive to temperature changes. These pans feature the original Calphalon hard anodized surface, which is stick resistant, meaning that it sticks when you want it (when your searing, browning) and releases when you need it to(when your food is ready). If you know how cast iron cooks, you know how the hard anodized cooks, but hard anodized has many beneifts that make it better choice- aluminum is a better conductor than iron, you never season your pan(so you dont have flavor transfer from dish to dish), and it doesn't rust! All pans are spun or drawn into shape, which makes the entire pan (sides as well as bottom) the same thickness, which guarantees even heating throughout. If you enjoy cooking and want the best and most versatile surface for performing a variety of techniques- this is the surface for you! Metal utensil and broiler safe. Lifetime Warranty.

Amazon.com Review
Update your kitchen with this handsome nine-piece cookware set from Calphalon. The charcoal-gray matte finish of the Commercial Hard-Anodized series not only looks sophisticated but is impressive in performance: it sears meats over medium heat, cooks evenly, and stays stick-resistant without having a nonstick finish that can eventually peel. Moreover, hard-anodized pots and pans are safe to use with metal utensils and under the broiler. Riveted on for strength, the stainless-steel Cool V handles stay cool during stovetop cooking and are oven-safe, as are the lids.
Covering all the basics, this set consists of a 2-1/2-quart covered shallow saucepan; 8-, 10-, and 12-inch open skillets; and 3- and 7-quart covered chef's casseroles. The lid on the larger casserole is domed to send moisture and flavors back into the pot for succulent meat dishes. You'll find low to medium heat is the best temperature range for this fast-heating cookware. After use, wash by hand. Though it's still covered by a lifetime warranty, Calphalon discontinued the Commercial Hard-Anodized line in 2004 and replaced it with Calphalon One Infused Anodized. --Ann Bieri
Customer Reviews
Great value - watch for price fluctuations
I got this set for what I consider a steal. The price has been fluctuating a bit, and if you hit it at the right time you can get them for an outstanding price. Just like all the other hard annodized cookware I have bought from amazon, I LOVE these pans! I have now converted nearly all of my cookware to this line, and highly reccommend it to anyone who wants to become a better cook. If you read other reviews, people complain about sticking. YES, food does adhere to the pans while cooking, but when it is done, the food releases from the surface. If you burn the food, do like Emeril says, and use the knobs on your stove. It does take some time and patience to rid yourself of the habits of teflon pans, but the food is so much tastier - I have never made better gravy in my life than since I switched cookware. This is a great starter set, and has most of the pans that you'll need. I would say that the average cook could get around 75% of their cooking done with this set. Have some patience, and I am sure you'll be pleased with the results.
Great deal, great pots/pans!
First, I would like to say to watch the price of these after you buy them - the price varies a lot and you might be able to improve your deal with a refund. Anyway, these are great! They conduct heat much better than any other pot/pan I have used. There is some adjustment if you are used to Teflon - they do stick a bit more. With that said, they don't give you cancer as many now suspect Teflon does, they are oven safe, and you can use metal utensils. A scotch-brite pad is safe to use (according to manufacturer's instructions) and will restore the pans to their new condition with little effort. There are some other tips for minimizing stick included in the instructions. Machine washing is not recommended. Also, remember that since the tops for these pans are metal, they may get very hot and require a potholder for removal. The handles on the pans themselves, however, generally stay cool enough to touch.
Amazing performance
I bought this set because our Calph. nonstick pans were starting to wear. I was leery after reading some online reviews stating that food stuck to the pans and were hard to clean. They are handwash only but that didn't bother me.
I've tried to use the pans as much as possible and I have been amazed at the difference really good cookware can make. They are easy to clean, withstands metal utensils, do not react with acidic foods and heat quickly and evenly. They are even ovenproof.
So far I have not needed anything more than a dishcloth to keep them near-new clean.

This functional 14-piece set offers a complete array of cookware for the kitchen at a reasonable price. The set includes three covered saucepans in 2-, 3-, and 4-quart sizes; 5-1/2- and 8-quart covered stockpots; 8- and 10-inch shallow French skillets; and a 12-inch, 5-quart covered sauté pan. The exteriors of the pans in this set are durable hard-anodized aluminum while a hard-anodized aluminum core distributes heat evenly through the pans without hot spots. Three coats of DuPont nonstick coating line the pan’s interiors. Circulon’s patented Hi-Low grooves protect the nonstick coating from wear by exposing only a small portion of the nonstick surface to cooking. The result is longer lasting performance and easy cleaning. The 18/10 stainless steel lids are slightly domed to capture moisture when steaming or braising foods. Handles are made of stay-cool heat-resistant plastic and are oven-safe to 350 degrees F. This cookware is covered by a lifetime limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Mediocre performanceHello,
I am a busy professional, one of the reasons I did not cook at home earlier was the time it took to wash the pots and pans. And apart from that, I needed the superlative non-stick ability to prevent the food from sticking to the bottom and burning. This circulon satisifes both criteria upto a certain degree. The food doesnt stick - but there is a residue left on the pan, and after repeated use you will notice a thin film of blackish mass sticking to the pan surface, which is impossible to remove because of the grooves. And you cant use a scrubber - just a light sponge for cleaning, for fear of ruining the non-stick.
But my biggest gripe is the lower surface of the pan, food does stick to it and then it burns and the pan looks terribly terribly ugly.
Regarding the non-stick durability : I had a pasta cooking and draining pan from circulon (similar in make to this 14 piece cookware set), and that one's non-stick lasted me about a year before becoming useless. I have been using this 14 piece cookware set for the last 5 months, the non-stick works fine till now.
I purchased this 14 piece cookware set from Amazon for about $125. I use some pots and pans from this set everyday, but there are some which never see any use.
Thats because, this set is a weird assortment of sizes. The chef's pan and the large sauce pan are great. I wish there was a larger frying pan though, and I have never even taken out the smaller sauce pans or the little frying pan.
But bottomline is, it is better to buy this set rather than buy individual pieces (which turns out to be more expensive) or buying a no-nonstick cookware set. I used one of those stainless steel ones without non-stick, man, everything sticks to the bottom. You will need to constantly stir the food while cooking in one of those, and cleaning is a huge hassle.
My recommendation : if you have the money, go for a better technology based non-stick. I think they have some of those at Amazon too. But if you are looking for something to last you only for a couple of years, then go for this. Its not good, but its not too bad either.
Update: After about a year of use, the frying pan which saw the most use, has absolutely no non-stick capabilities. The chef pan has a concave bending towards the center, the central area has lost the non stick ability. The rest didnt see any significant usage, so writing about them is pointless.
Anyway, just like the pasta cooking pot of similar make from Circulon, exactly after a year of use, the pans have lost their non-stick ability and to top it, look horrible. The rear end looks black, since no amount of scrubbing can get that soot blackened mess off of it.
Dont buy it.
Kaushik.

Amazon.com Review
There's something clean and pure about cookware that's stainless steel inside and out. This stylishly finished version from KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials series features a brightly polished interior that discourages food from sticking, and a handsomely brushed exterior with a shiny band along the rim. Each pan is entirely constructed of premium 18/10 stainless steel, except for the encapsulated aluminum disk in the base (aluminum makes a superior conductor of heat), and the silicone grip encasing the handle. Even the tight-fitting lids are stainless steel. Each piece is oven-safe to 400 degrees F and is dishwasher-safe.
Whether you want to fry up pancakes for breakfast, warm soup for lunch, or feed chili to a crowd, this set more than accommodates your most typical cooking needs. The 1-, 2-, and 3-quart saucepans all come with lids, as does the large 8-quart stockpot. The 8- and 10-inch French skillets are nice and deep, great for poaching eggs or stir-frying veggies. Stainless steel cooks most efficiently at medium heat, and can be used to start a dish on the stovetop and finish it in the oven. An excellent value, the set is covered by a lifetime limited warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Better than Expected
I usually like to see and feel things before buying them online, but I took a gamble this time based on review here and elsewhere and it paid off. I could not find this set in any store locally. This set is MUCH better than I expected it to be. The pans are Heavy, (but thats a quality heavy not a too "heavy" to lift) and compared to a stainless Farberware set I've bought in the past, I think I will like this set even more. It seems to be built to last (my $100.00 Farberware set is 14 years old). I like the fact that you can put these (frying pans) in the oven without too much worry on "melting" the handles. I like the way the covers fit on the pots as well.
Simply amazing, can't be beat
Such value for money here, no need to spend 3-4x as much on All-Clad...these are just as heavy and put together just as well. I'm glad I could never get myself to drop the $$$ on the other companies product. I expected them to be nice from reading the Consumer Reports piece but I was blown away by this set.
This IS the set to buy, don't get a nonstick set...from experience. Even the best coatings wear off over time, you can't use metal whisks in them, and who really needs a nonstick stock pot?
You don't need nonstick for most cooking, you will get better browning and pan sauces from a regular pan, yes you need nonstick for eggs and pancakes but you can always buy a matching nonstick skillet to go with these and still wind up spending much less.
KitchenAid Essentials -- A Real Essential for Your Kitchen
I received my KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials set this week, and I am thrilled! The first thing I noticed was the perfect weight of the pans . . . then I decided to put the small skillet to the ultimate test . . . scrambled eggs! Honestly, I expected them to stick like glue to the pan. I sprayed first with a non-stick spray, added a teaspoon of butter (like always), and cooked the most perfect eggs ever. This skillet worked better than the teflon coated pans I have used in the past, and the clean-up was a breeze. I was convinced to buy this set when I saw the high ratings the set received from Consumer Reports, and ALL the reviews I read gave this set an A. I"ll give it an A+!

A Great Set of Cookware
Let me preface this review with the fact that I am Italian and raised 5 children on daily home-cooked meals. The kitchen is the center of my home. So when my daughter got her own apartment out west and asked for a set of pots for Christmas, I wanted to make sure I got her a quality set that would last her for years and years. I knew what I wanted for her, but didn't know which brand to purchase. Non-stick was out (I have never liked it). The pots also had to be both dishwasher/oven safe, and I wanted the pot handles to be riveted into the pot. Off I went to the mall with my "specifications" in hand to look at the different brands and sets available. Boy was I amazed at how many there were! I took my time and examined each set. Not only did I look at the sets, but I also handled the sets. This is VERY important. Many of the quality sets were so heavy that I needed two hands to lift the larger pieces, and although I could lift the smaller saucepans, I had difficulty tilting them to the side to pour. Others had handles that were very uncomfortable to use. Then I came upon the Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 10-piece cookware set. I was very impressed by the quality. They were heavy grade yet easy to handle. They also met my other specifications listed above AND they looked really nice as well. The price of $149 was quite unbelievable. I drove home and ran straight to my computer and ordered the set through Amazon. I got free shipping and had the set delivered directly to my daughter. I also used the holiday bonus coupon for $25 off my order. I was so impressed with the set and the deal Amazon was offering, a few days later I purchased a second set through Amazon for myself. I LOVE them. They cook beautifully on my gas range and clean up well in the dishwasher. The handles DO NOT get hot while cooking, which totally surprised me. Do be careful with the lid handles though. They will get hot if cooking on higher heat. I haven't had a problem with delicate foods burning due to the high thermoconductivity of the pans; however, my stove is a professional grade 6-burner unit. I don't know if that makes any difference or not. All I can say is this set looks great, cooks great, handles great, and sells at a great price. What more can you ask for?
My "Black Friday" Purchase
The day after Thanksgiving, "Black Friday" is the official kick off of the Holiday shopping season. I have never participated in this event, however those 20% coupons to shop between 6AM and 11AM enticed me. I needed a new cookware set, since my old pots and pans dated back to before I was born.
I am known as the "Research King" & "The Negotiator", so yes I did my homework. I was going to purchase a non stick set for $300.00, however you have to "feel" the set before buying. Is the weight even, do the covers fit right - you know what I mean. NOTE: I cook every night and have for years. I am not a Chef, but can cook a great meal.
Right next to Anolon at Macy's Dept. store, was the Cuisinart 10 Piece Classic Stainless cookware. It looked good, the weight was even, the lids fit great, but why so inexpensive? I researched Cuisinart and knew it was a good brand, so after playing around with the pots and pans for 20 minutes I bought the set! So this is what I got:
- 8" & 10" Skillet
- 1.5 QT & 3 QT Saucepan with covers
- 3.5 QT Saute with helper handle and cover
- 8 QT Stockpot with cover
FREE Gift with purchase: 2 QT Saucier
Extra Purchase: 5 1/2 QT All purpose pan with cover.
So, all in all, I got a 13 piece set for the grand total of: $130.75
Yes, I took advantage of a 20% coupon and then an additional 10% coupon. All 13 pieces are part of Cusinarts's Cheft's Classic line.
My Experience: (Rate by school grade A through F)
* Appearance: All the pieces looked great. The set looks as if it should be worth $500.00 (Grade A )
* Weight: The weight of each piece is solid and even. An important point because I flip my food and move the pans a lot while cooking. Note: These pieces do not feel cheap. Very good solid feel. (A-)
* Covers: The lids are a little light in weight, however they create a vacum seal when the heat is turned down. They do a better job then I expected. Normally with lighter lids you think they would wiggle and pop off, but these hold tight! (B )
* Handles: Solid Stainless steel, riveted handle. Solid feel and yes they stay cool. Also long enough to get a good grip. (A)
* Heat Distribution - Cuisinart recommends cooking on lower heat. Yes, this is true. The aluminum bottoms heat quickly and there are no hot spots. Trust me, use low heat. (A )
* Sticking - Well, these are not non stick. I used most of these pots and pans already to reheat our Thanksgiving dinner. Some things really stuck to the pots even when using PAM. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, stuck like glue. Next morning: Bacon stuck, but eggs did not. Go figure.... (B-)
* Clean Up: Water and soap in pan right after cooking. Yes this works well, but I have always done this. (B)
* Dishwasher: Yes, they are dishwasher safe, however after one cycle, the inside bottoms of a couple of pans had a purple tint to it. So, I have decided just to hand wash these for now. (Until I get lazy). (C-)
Final grade: B
Think a large set is less expensive than the sum of its individual 'parts'???......
Guess again!
The 5-piece starter set includes the 8 qt. covered stockpot, 3 qt. covered pot and 10" open skillet. This set sells (curently on the Amazon site on 10/01/2005)for $59.99. Add the following open stock items currently on the Amazon site:
-1 1/2 qt. covered sauce pan; $13.99
-3 1/2 qt. saute' pan with helper handle and lid; $20.99.
-8" open skillet; $13.99
-TOTAL $108.96 !!!! (If I added correctly)
There are some other good Cuisinart open stock values out there as well.
Not rocket science; just another example of Amazon's sometimes quirky pricing.
(9/24 update): There have been many price changes (mostly trending lower and revised in my example above) for this fine Cuisinart Chef's Classic line. Be a smart shopper and check the openstock (and starter set) item prices first before purchasing a larger multi-item set.

The 8- and 10-inch skillets slide out perfect French toast and pancakes, not to mention eggs over easy with bacon. Use the wide 3-1/2-quart covered sauté pan for frying chicken or braising beef, and the covered 8-quart stockpot for big batches of pasta, chili, and hearty soups. Cleanup is easy, just a quick wash by hand takes care of any food residue. Hard-anodized cookware is best kept out of the dishwasher. Cuisinart covers the cookware set with a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. --Ann Bieri

Not top of the line - But best value for the money
I've had this cook set for 2 months and have cooked extensively with them. They replaced a stainless steel set of cookware with the triple clad bottoms (copper sandwiched between stainless) and that is the only feature that I wished that these had.
My favorite features are the glass lids and the non-stick interior. I have had no problem cleaning these and have been careful to follow the care instructions included in the package (i.e. no abrasive cleaners, etc)
Even though the instructions claim that metal utensils can be used with the cook ware I will be trying to maximize the useful life by avoiding metal of any sort with these. I have noticed that even plastic utensils leave visible telltale marks, no scratching, just marks.
For the money these are a superior set of cookware with a price that is unmatched at my local Sam's or Costco, nor was I able to track down an equal (or identical) product using search engines online.
If you want a high quality set that offers a pot and pan for every use this is a hands-down winner.
Nice cookware set for the money
I bought this cookware set about a month ago when it was on sale and came to a total of $133, including a bonus stockpot and free shipping. It's the best set I have owned, but it definitely has its drawbacks. I have found the pan and pot exteriors to be very prone to scratching, even when trying to handle them with care. You're better off hanging the pots and pans on overhead racks for them to keep their outward good looks, but unfortunately I don't have a fancy kitchen, so I have to be super careful when storing them in the cupboards. The lid handles (they are metal) do get very hot when cooking on higher settings or boiling things. You also have to be mindful about what kind of utensils you use, because even though I've used only what they recommended (plastic or wood), the bottom of my sauteeing pan somehow showed marks after the very first use.
As far as pros are concerned, the interior coating provides superior nonstick cooking even without any oil, butter, marg, Pam, etc... and is a breeze to clean. And for people who tend to put stuff on the stove and forget about it (guilty!), your smoke detector won't go off near as often! I left my grilled cheese on medium heat for goodness knows how long, and the bottom bread slice was brown not burned.
All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. This set contains just about every size pot and pan I need for everyday cooking. I'm hoping it will last a long time, but only time will tell.
I would recommend that you wait and buy this set when it's on sale, not at the full price.
Great set for the price.
Recently purchased this set from Amazon.com, received it within a week and the package was well cushioned! They are okay in retaining heat, but that's because I cook alot of high heat stir fry. Cleaning was a breeze, and I did noticed that you almost don't need any oil when you cook, which is great for low fat cooking. Definitely recommend this set for any typical home cooking.

An excellent value, this 12-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The large 8-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. Finally, the 12-inch covered sauté pan with its helper handle tackles generous quantities of fried chicken, braised meats, stir-fries, and poached salmon. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. Excellent for the Price
I've owned more expensive cookware sets, but this moderately priced set from KitchenAid ranks with the best of them. All of my previous cookware was stainless steel or low-end aluminum, so I was not sure what to expect in terms of durability. However, this set has exceeded my expectations. The pans are wonderful to cook with, the non-stick coating beats anything I've tried before, the lids fit tightly, and the insulated handles make oven mitts unnecessary. I love how light the pans are -- even full they are easy to lift and pour from. One note of caution: The domed lids and upright lid handles mean these pans require a bit more storage space than other sets I've used.
forget circulon or calphalon - these are great
I read lots of reviews on the other two major brands, and decided that circulon was out because of the rings on the bottom, and many of the lower end calphalons seemed to have peeling problems. I bought this set of kitchenaid pans, and both my wife and I absolutely love them. Easy to clean, cook very nicely, had them a year and no problems at all. Just remember, don't use metal on them, and don't put them in the diswasher.
The deep saucepan is awesome for lots of dishes. Very happy with this set.
Best Cookware we've had in years!!!!
Being a consumer reports junkie I noticed this cookware was not rated under the nonstick column so I relied on Amazon reviews and decided to purchase this set. My hats off to the people who have reviewed this item because the comments are very accurate and honest. I really love this Kitchen aid set for the following reasons:
1. It looks just amazing to have them shown, we have visitors complimenting the looks of the pans and then they see Kitchen Aid and say "wow". It's a good feeling.
2. The cooking is very fast and the burn is very even....amazing. I whipp up two eggs in under 3 minutes. The other day I cooked and omelette and upon flipping it over the cook diagragm was very evenly spaced and consistent. Again Amazing !!!
3. Most reviewers say it is easy to clean....that is so true!!! One quick clean with either a dish sponge or a simple rag will do the job.
3. The handles do not get warm even when warming up the pan. You can leave the pot warming and grab the handle with full confidence and you will not worry about the handle being warm.
4. The top glass is very stylish and durable. We accidentally dropped one and not a scratch.
5. The price with the special offer from Amazon brings this pot down to a very affordable price.
6. These pots are enough to cover your every day cooking needs. I believe they will also last at least over 5 years so I highly recommend them.
Again thanks to Amazon for just being Amazon, but people out there taking the time to input reviews, I want to thank you for the comments and reviews that lead me to believe there are good people still out there watching out for one another.
Amazon is just awesome in most areas, I hardly ever shop at ebay because of Amazon.
Cheers,

Amazon.com Review
Like her dynamic cutlery, Rachael Ray cookware first enchants the eye before you even realize how well you can cook with it. The handsome charcoal-gray, hard-anodized pots and pans feature shiny stainless-steel handles wrapped with neon-orange silicone grips that practically glow with the kinetic energy of this celebrity chef. It'll come as no surprise that orange is Ray's favorite color. A smile is practically guaranteed each time you pull one of these pans out of the cupboard or see them hanging by your stove. As for cooking, hard-anodized aluminum heats quickly and evenly, resists scratching, and is incredibly durable. The interior nonstick finish allows food to slide right off.
You're good to go with this 10-piece set of commonly-used cookware. Included are 1-1/2- and 3-quart covered saucepans; 8- and 10-inch open French skillets; a 6-quart covered stockpot for big batches of pasta and chili; and a 3-quart/10-inch covered sauté pan. The glass lids let you monitor cooking without losing steam or nutrients, and feature stainless-steel rims and handle with those same neon-orange silicone grips. Every piece is oven-safe to 400 degrees F, so you can start a dish on the stovetop and finish it with a hot bake-through. For the best care, washing the nonstick cookware by hand is recommended. An excellent gift, the set is covered by a lifetime limited warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Amazing cookware
I received this cookware December 06 and have been cooking with it everyday since then. It is truly an amazing cookware set. It goes from stove top to oven with no problem. It looks nice hanging on my pot rack in my kitchen even after all of the use it gets from me and my family. The pots cook evenly and the food does not stick making clean up spectacularly fast and easy. I was lucky enough to receive and add to my collection this past Christmas the larger, deep oval skillet for large family dinners. I highly recommend this set for anyone from beginning cooks to very experienced ones.
Excellent Cookware
I bought the set about 4 months ago and absolutly love it. It is sooo easy to clean, and I don't normally like to handwash, and it cooks great. The orange handles are great especially if you have kids that like to help you cook. I have since bought the 8 qt. pasta to add to my original set. Can't say enough good things about this cookware.
best set ever
This is the best pots and pans set I ever had. They are super easy to clean up..nothing sticks to them! Everything cooks evenly and nice. I am very happy and also bought the other matching pieces to this set.
